Q: You guys have been making music together since 2014, and it’s been a wild ride of endless touring and music releases since! How did you all decide to embark on this thrilling journey together?

A: Dan – Greg and I met in high school and admired each other’s music for years. When we finally came together to write, we noticed there was something really special happening and we had to keep working on it. We were able to put together an amazing group of people who are all down to sing harmonies and do choreography. Everyone’s great to travel with too.

Q: Your heavy, dancey, guitar-driven pop sound definitely sets itself apart from other big names in the music industry today. What inspires your unique style? Who are your biggest musical influences?

A: Greg – They’re constantly changing because we’re all checking out a lot of artists but the ones we keep coming back to are: Prince, Queens of the Stone Age, Queen, St. Vincent, Tune-Yards, and LCD Soundsystem.

Q: Sanctuary (LP 2018), your latest effort, is now available worldwide for millions of listeners to indulge. What message do you hope people will take away from the brilliant songs on this new record?

A: Dan – 1. Check Snopes before you share an article. 2. Things you were taught aren’t always right. 3. It takes a lot of work to make yourself a better person.

Q: The fantastic album features ten diverse tracks about a multitude of topics—including responsibilities and comfortability. Can you share a bit about the writing and recording process for Sanctuary?

A: Dan – We record a lot of our music into GarageBand on our phones. Every instrument and vocal on ‘Artificial Sin’ was recorded into an iPhone.  Recording the instruments and the vocal ideas has become a really quick part of the process. Lyrically, we take a long time because you can’t take it back once its recorded. Also, Joni Mitchell happened and it’s hard to be half as good as her.

Q: Your ongoing October tour has been filled with excited crowds and groovy tunes, and the fun’s not over yet as you make your way over to the west coast! Have you had any memorable tour experiences so far?

A: Greg – We opened for Baum and Your Smith in Cincinatti. They’re both amazing and you should check them out!  It was definitely one of our most fun shows.

Q: With countless hours of travel time, you guys probably listen to a vast assortment of music on the road. Which artists have you been jamming out to lately?

A: Dan – Dur-Dur Band! And honestly Your Smith and Baum ever since that show. Also just starting to get into Marion Williams.

Q: Over the past few years, Super City has shared the stage with several great bands like White Denim and Rubblebucket. If you could perform alongside any musical artist for a special one-night show, who would you pick?

A: Dan – David Blaine.

Q: Other than the remainder of your October tour, what else would you guys like to accomplish this year?

A: Greg – We’re just really proud of this latest album and hope to show it to as many people as we can.
